Track & Field Ventures to Virginia for 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Crimson take the national spotlight this weekend, as Harvard track & field travels to Virginia Beach, Virginia for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Mar. 14 and Saturday, Mar. 15. Harvard fans can watch all the action from the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Harvard will be well represented at the NCAA Indoor Championships yet again, as the Crimson will take part in six events at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
  • Now a three-time qualifier in the pentathlon, senior Izzy Goudros will compete in the event again this Friday.
  • Consisting of the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m, Goudros garnered All-America Second Team honors in the pentathlon in 2023 with an 11th place finish.
  • At the Crimson Elite earlier this season, Goudros broke the Ivy League record in the pentathlon with 4313 points, a tally that ranks sixth nationally this season.
  • Goudros was named the Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Meet at the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships after finishing in second in the 200m, 60m hurdles and the long jump.
  • Two Crimson will feature in the 800m. Senior Victoria Bossong and sophomore Sophia Gorriaran are Harvard's representative in the event.
  • Gorriaran, a native of Providence, Rhode Island, garnered All-American Second Team status in both the indoor and outdoor 800m last year, as she finished in 11th with a time of 2:04.61 in NCAA Championships debut at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • The David Hemery Valentine Invitational saw Gorriaran run a season-best 2:01.27 in the 800m, a time that is tied for tenth nationally this season.
  • A 10-time champion in Ivy League indoor and outdoor competition, Bossong made her NCAA Championships debut last year, finishing in 10th in the 800m with a time of 2:01.20.
  • Bossong has continued to impress nationally in the 800m during the 2024-25 season, as she qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 2:00.79 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Hailing from Cumberland Foreside, Maine, Bossong is sixth in the 800m nationally this year.
  • The defending NCAA national champion in the men's weight throw, senior Kenneth Ikeji looks to become the first repeat champion since 2015, when Wisconsin's Michael Lihrman won his second straight national champion in the event.
  • With a win this weekend, Ikeji would become the ninth student-athlete in NCAA history to claim consecutive national championships in the men's weight throw.
  •  A native of London, United Kingdom, Ikeji currently ranks sixth in the NCAA with a throw of 23.78m (78'0.25") at the Penn 10 Elite in January.
  • Heading to this third NCAA Championships between the indoor and outdoor season, sophomore Tito Alofe will look to earn his third All-American recognition in the men's high jump on Saturday.
  • Last season saw Alofe earn All-America Second Team status with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championship after clearing 2.18m (7'1.75"). The Peachtree City, Georgia native followed that up with a fourth place showing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after clearing 2.20m (7'2.5").
  • Alofe is tied for seventh on the national performance list this season, as he broke the school record with a jump of 2.23m (7'4.25") at the USATF-NE Indoor Championships.
  • Harvard will also field two relay teams on the women's side at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships.
  • The women's 4x400m relay will take place on Saturday. The Crimson 4x400m relay team went on a record breaking tear this winter, as Bossong, Gorriaran, Goudros and senior Chloe Fair combined to post a time of 3:30.28 at the Terrier DMR Challenge. Harvard currently ranks 10th in the nation with that time.
  • The Crimson will compete in the women's distance medley relay, as Gorriaran, Fair, Bossong and junior Penelope Salmon joined forces to run a 10:47.92 at the Terrier DMR Challenge, the ninth-fastest time in the country this season.
  • Harvard has produced 11 individual national champions at NCAA Indoor Championships in program history, six on the men's side and five for the women's team.
  • Last season saw two Crimson lift NCAA national championship trophies. Ikeji won the men's weight throw national championship, while Maia Ramsden '24 won the national title in the women's mile.
  • During The William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Jason Saretsky's tenure, three Crimson have won individual national titles: Ramsden, Ikeji, and three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas '19 in the 200m at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.
