Men's Lightweight Rowing

Harvard Lightweight 'A' Boat Advances in Temple Challenge Cup at Henley on Day Two

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — On Thursday, July 3, the second day of the 2025 Henley Royal Regatta, Harvard men's lightweight rowing saw its A boat continue its unbeaten run, while the B boat capped off a strong season with a hard-fought effort in the Temple Challenge Cup.

Harvard B Concludes Season in Gritty Effort

Harvard B, coxed by Megan Ong and stroked by James Stevenson, concluded its 2025 campaign after a spirited battle with Bath University. The Crimson crew launched out with trademark early speed but was ultimately edged out by one and three-quarter boat lengths. The loss brings an end to a competitive and promising season for the B squad, which consistently delivered strong performances throughout the spring.

Harvard A Moves On After Measured Victory

Harvard A, coxed by Anya Cheng and stroked by Ben Lundie, continued its perfect run with a confident win over the University of London, finishing ahead by one and one-quarter lengths. Demonstrating control and cohesion from start to finish, the Crimson extended their unbeaten streak on one of rowing's most storied stages.

Sibling Showdown Ahead

With the win, Harvard A advances to the third round of the Temple Challenge Cup, where they will face the University of Virginia. The race will be particularly personal for coxswain Anya Cheng, whose sister, Celia Chang, leads the Virginia boat as its coxswain—a rare sibling showdown on the Henley course.
  • Harvard A vs. University of Virginia: Friday, July 4 at 11:00 a.m. BST / 6:00 a.m. ET
All races are streamed live on the Henley Royal Regatta YouTube channel.
