Fencing Heads to New York for St. John’s Super Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard fencing continues its 2025-26 collegiate slate in the Empire State this weekend, as the Crimson will feature at the St. John's Super Cup on Saturday, Jan. 17.

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Both Crimson squads are in sensational form to start the 2025-26 season, as the men's and women's teams are a combined 21-1 across two meets to open the year.
  • Harvard's women's squad enters the weekend with a perfect 11-0 record, while the men's team travels to the St. John's Invitational with a 10-1 record.
  • In its last outing, the Crimson shined on home turf, as Harvard swept the Fencing Beanpot for a 17th straight year, besting regional foes Boston University, Brandeis and MIT in the process.
  • At the Beanpot, four Crimson women's fencers posted perfect records, three of them coming from the foil squad. First-years Lucia Zhang and Emily Jing both went a perfect 9-0 in women's foil action, as two-time All-America First Team honoree Jessica Zi Jia Guo went 6-0.
  • A pair of Crimson men went undefeated at the Beanpot. A member of Canada's roster at the 2024 Paris Olympics, sophomore Nicholas Zhang tallied an 8-0 record in men's epee action, as classmate and epee teammate Alexander Tafur collected seven wins with zero defeats. A gold medalist at the Senior Men's Saber World Cup to start the year, sophomore Colin Heathcock went 7-2 in his collegiate season debut at the Beanpot.
  • The 2024 Women's Foil NCAA National Champion and a two-time Olympian, Guo is leading the way for the women's team, as the Toronto, Ontario native is a sensational 27-1 to start the 2025-26 campaign.
  • One of several standout first-years for the Crimson this season, first-year Roy Graham is 19-2 to start his collegiate career in men's foil competition, as first-year men's saber fencer Cody Ji leads the Crimson men with 25 wins this year.
  • Harvard will face elite competition at the St. John's Super Cup, as the Crimson will square off against Princeton, Columbia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and St. John's in Queens.
