Track & Field to Feature at Riverhawk Invitational This Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With only three weekends left until the regular season, Harvard track & field is set to compete in the Riverhawk Invitational at the TRACK at new balance on Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7.

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • With the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships is New York City quickly approaching, Harvard produced impressive results at the Harvard Invitational and the John Thomas Terrier Classic last weekend.
  • Junior Sophia Gorriaran posted another record-breaking showing on the track, setting a new Ivy League record in the women's 1000m with a time of 2:38.75. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran's time also ranks third all-time in NCAA history.
  • A four-time All-American in the 800m across both indoor and outdoor competition, Gorriaran ranks third in the 800m (2:01.30) and 19th in the mile (4:32.94) in the nation this season.
  • After her historic efforts at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, Gorriaran earned Ivy League Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time this season.
  • The Ancient Eight's defending women's 60 hurdles champion, senior Fabiola Belibi orchestrater a career-best time in the event at the Harvard Invitational, taking first place after posting an 8.29.
  • With that time, Belibi now ranks second all-time in the women's 60 hurdles in program history.
  • Junior Amari Turner continues to make an impact in the sprints for the men's team, as he finished in second in the 200m at the John Thomas Terrier Classic with a time of 21.16. That mark ranks second all-time in school history and second in the Ivy League this year.
  • A three-time All-American in the men's high jump, junior Tito Alofe made his season debut at the Harvard Invitational, clearing 2.21m (7'3"). Alofe is now tied for sixth in the nation and leads the Ivy League in the men's high jump.
  • Seniors Mfoniso Andrew and Jacklynn Okereke, along with junior Alice Mihas, are the team captains for the women's team. Seniors Jonas Clarke and Daire Mahon are the men's team captains.
  • Jason Saretsky, The William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, is in his 20th season at the helm of the Crimson track & field program.
UP NEXT:

Three meets await Harvard on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14, as the Crimson will compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational, the David Hemry Valentine Invitational and will host the Crimson Open.
