Men's Volleyball Hosts AIC and St. Thomas Aquinas at Home This Weekend

Cambridge, Mass. – Harvard Men's Volleyball (4-9, 2-4 EIVA) welcomes AIC (1-8, 0-0 ECC) on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 PM and St. Thomas Aquinas (5-10, 0-0 ECC) on Saturday, March 7 at 5:00 PM. Both matches will stream on ESPN+, with Friday's contest against AIC also airing on NESN.

What to Know

  • The Crimson is coming off a two-match sweep of the University of Charleston, defeating the Golden Eagles in four sets and three sets, respectively (25-23, 24-26, 26-24, 25-12) and (25-19, 25-22, 25-15).
  • Owen Woolbert anchored the defense, earning EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season and second time in his career. He totaled 11 blocks and 18 kills while hitting .528 average.
  • Brian Thomas recorded a career-high 10 kills on Friday and added eight more on Saturday, finishing the weekend with a .555 average hitting percentage.
  • Zach Berty tallied 19 kills and 10 digs across the two matches, marking season highs in both categories over a two-match stretch.
  • Adrian Shevchuk set for a .356 team hitting percentage over the two matches. 
  • As a team, the Crimson set multiple individual season bests and showcased a commanding performance on both sides of the ball.
  • AIC enters the weekend after a bye, previously splitting a pair of matches with a three-set win over D'Youville University for its first victory of the season before falling to Daemen University. The Yellow Jackets will face Emmanuel College prior to Friday's matchup.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas also split its last weekend, sweeping Sacred Heart on February 27 before being swept by Merrimack on February 28. Harvard previously swept Merrimack earlier this season.
  • Friday marks the second all-time meeting between the Crimson and AIC. Harvard swept the Yellow Jackets at home last season.
  • Saturday will also be the second-ever meeting between the Crimson and St. Thomas Aquinas. Harvard swept the Spartans in a home matchup in 2023.
