EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore
Acer Iverson ran his collegiate best (28:23.29) in the 10,000 meters, placing 13
th overall to earn USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors on Day 1 of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field.
Teammate
Matthew Pereira placed 18
th in the event in 28:43.95 to earn USTFCCCA All-America Honorable Mention, capping off a strong season in the event for the senior in which he set the school mark (27:45.77).
With the lead runner ahead by nearly 100 meters for the first 6000 meters, Iverson and Pereira held back in the main pack, with Iverson among the top 10 runners in the field for most of the race.
Iverson held on to a top-16 finish to earn All-America honors, the first such recognition for a Harvard men's runner in the 10,000 meters.
