CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field looks to write another chapter in the program's storied history this week, as 18 Crimson will descend on Eugene, Oregon for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet takes place at the historic Hayward Field from Wednesday, June 5 to Saturday, June 8. All four days will air on ESPN+, ESPN2, and ESPN.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Harvard will send 18 student-athletes to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, setting the program record for the most qualifiers in a single-season.
- Three National Champions highlight the group of qualifiers.
- The defending NCAA Men's Hammer Throw and Weight Throw National Champion, junior Kenneth Ikeji looks to capture the third national championship in his collegiate career this week in the men's hammer throw.
- A native of London, U.K., Ikeji currently ranks sixth in the nation in the men's with a throw of 74.47m (244'4").
- Senior Maia Ramsden is also eyeing a third national title in her Crimson career. Ramsden took home the NCAA Women's 1,500m National Championship last season in Austin, Texas, and won the NCAA Women's Mile National Championship at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- The New Zealand national record holder in the indoor and outdoor 1,500m run, Ramsden's time of 4:05.65 from the 2024 NCAA East Region First Round is the fastest time in a collegiate meet this season.
- Ramsden will also compete in the women's 5,000m run this week.
- The 2023 NCAA Men's Cross Country National Championship, junior Graham Blanks will take center stage in the men's 5,000m run at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- A native of Athens, Georgia, Blanks finished in second place in the men's 5,000m at last season's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- Joining Blanks in the men's 5,000m is senior Acer Iverson. At the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Iverson took 23rd place in the men's 10,000m run.
- A pair of Crimson will compete in the women's 800m in Eugene.
- After garnering All-America Second Team honors in the 800m at the 2024, first-year Sophia Gorriaran posted a career-best 2:00.65 at the NCAA East Region First Round to clinch a spot at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- Qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time in her career, junior Victoria Bossong will join Gorriaran in the women's 800m. A native of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, Bossong ran a 2:00.92 at the Pepsi Florida Relays in March, a new personal-best.
- Junior Chloe Fair will represent the Crimson in the women's 400 hurdles. Fair punched her ticket to Eugene with a personal-best time of 56.19 at the NCAA East Region First Round.
- The program record holder in the women's heptathlon, junior Izzy Goudros returns to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for a second consecutive year. A native of Toronto, Canada, Goudros earned All-America honorable mention at last season's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- In her first collegiate season, first-year Milina Wepiwé will head to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, competing in the women's discus throw. Wepiwé secured a spot with a personal-best throw of 55.75m (182'11") at the NCAA East Region First Round.
- Along with their individual events, Fair, Gorriaran, Goudros, and Bossong will represent Harvard in the women's 4x400m, as the quartet posted a time of 3:30.49 to qualify at the NCAA East Region First Round. Sophomore Mfoniso Andrew and senior Egbe Ndip-Agbor will serve as alternates for the women's 4x400m.
- The 2024 Ivy League outdoor men's high jump champion, first-year Tito Alofe will take part in the men's high jump at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships. In March, Alofe secured All-America Second Team recognition after clearing 2.18m (7'1.75") at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships.
- Four Crimson seniors will run the men's 4x400m relay. Seniors Aaron Shirley, Gregory Lapit, Peter Diebold, and Lance Ward clinched a spot at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships by breaking the program record with a time of 3:05.86 at the NCAA East Region First Round.
- Senior Jonathan Gamarra and junior Oliver Murcko will travel to Eugene as alternates for the men's 4x400m relay.
